ASB provides humanitarian relief to Slovenia

2015-11-06

In light of the continuing refugee influx, which is affecting the Western Balkans, the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund, Deutschland e.V (ASB) has expanded its support to the Republic of Slovenia. The Slovenian Civil Protection and Disaster Relief Administration received a total of 10 professional accommodation tents in the value of € 30,000.

Each tent is foreseen of a heating system and electricity, enabling the accommodation of up to 15 persons per tent which brings the total to 150. After the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Slovenia has become the 3rd country in this part of Europe which is being supported by ASB.

On the 5th November 2015 the equipment was delivered to the Central Warehouse of the Civil Protection and Disaster Relief Administration and a handover was conducted in the presence of the ASB representative Ivan Marin and the Deputy General Director of the Civil Protection and Disaster Relief Administration Mr. Branko Dervodel. Mr. Dervodel thanked ASB for its support in these difficult times and stated that the tents will be installed promptly in order to accommodate as many refugees as possible in the cold times to come.

Slovenia has been faced with a high influx of refugees over the past several weeks. Since 17th October over 140,000 refugees have passed through the country on their journey to Western and Northern Europe.
