14 JULY 2010 - ASB IMPLEMENTS ANOTHER MINE-CLEARANCE PROJECT IN 2010 IN THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA WITH FUNDS FROM THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia has recently received funds from the German Foreign Ministry to implement mine-clearance of approx. 450,000 m2. It is envisaged to conduct several mine-clearance and survey projects in the municipality of Petrinja, Sisačko-Moslavačka County; the municipality of Sodolovci, Osiječko-Baranjska County; the municipality of Markušica, Vukovarsko-Srijemska County; the municipality of Gospić, Ličko-Senjska County; the municipality of Poličnik, Zadarska County, and in the municipality of Vodice, Šibensko-Kninska County. The total value of this project amounts to €530,000 and will be implemented until the end of 2010.
12 JULY 2010 - ASB SEE RELEASES A NEW NEWSLETTER The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund for South Eastern Europe (ASB SEE) released a new annual newsletter for 2009. In this newsletter, ASB SEE reports about various projects and activities implemented in the Republic of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Serbia and Kosovo.
5 MAY 2010 - GERMAN AMBASSADOR JOACHIM SCHMIDT VISITS ASB PROJECTS IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA On 4 May 2010, His Excellency Mr. Joachim Schmidt, German Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany and his wife Mrs. Barbara Veeh-Schmidt visited projects implemented by the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in 2008 and 2009 in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) with funds from the German Government through the German Foreign Ministry. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Matthias Heinz, First Secretary, and Ms. Christiane Heinze, Officer for Economy and Economic Co-operation of the German Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
1 MAY 2010 - ASB SIGNS MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING WITH FOUR MUNICIPALITIES IN THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Serbia in co-operation with the Serbian Commissariat for Refugees signed a number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the municipalities of Smederevo, Bačka Palanka, Kula and Temerin regulating the provision of assistance to refugees and IDPs by providing building materials and business start-up capital under the IPA 2008 project "Support to Refugees and IDPs in Serbia" financed by the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia.
20 APRIL 2010 - ASB DEMINES THE AREA OF 660,000 SQUARE METERS IN THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA WITH FUNDS FROM THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia has recently finalised mine-clearance of 660,000 m2 in the municipality of Petrinja, Sisačko-Moslavačka County; the municipalities of Sodolovci, Osiječko-Baranjska County; the municipalities of Stari Jankovci, Markušića and Jarmina, Vukovarsko-Srijemska County, in the municipality of Gospić, Ličko-Senjska County, and in the area of the town of Šibenik, Šibensko-Kninska County. This project was carried out in close co-operation with the Croatian Centre for Demining (CROMAC). The total value of this project amounted to €800,000.
13 APRIL 2010 - ASB FINALISES THE EU-FUNDED PROJECT FOCUSING ON HUMAN AND MINORITY RIGHTS IN THE TOWNS OF PAKRAC AND LIPIK AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF OKUČANI, CROATIA The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia has recently finalised the EU-funded project focusing on development and consolidation of democracy, the rule of law and respect for human and minority rights through strengthening the reconciliation process and citizens' participation in the decision making process. This project was implemented in the towns of Pakrac and Lipik and in the municipality of Okučani in Croatia in partnership with the Serbian Democratic Forum (SDF), Croatia. The total value of this project was €124,973.
25 MARCH 2010 - ASB FINALISES THE EU-FUNDED PROJECT "YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS-STRIVE FOR MORE" IN THE TOWN OF KNIN, CROATIA Under the PHARE 2006 programme, the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia and the civil society organisation "Hoću kući" from Knin have recently finalised the implementation of the EU-funded project "Young Entrepreneurs - Strive for More!" in the town of Knin, Šibenik-Knin County. The project was implemented in close co-operation with the "Kralj Zvonimir" vocational high school in Knin, "Lovre Monti" high school in Knin and the "Marko Marulić" college in Knin, at value of €60,053.
1 FEBRUARY 2010 - ASB IMPLEMENTS ANOTHER EU-FUNDED PROJECT TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO IDPs, REFUGEES AND THE VULNERABLE POPULATION IN SERBIA The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Serbia has recently received funds from the EU to implement the "Provision of support to internally displaced person (IDPs), refugees and the vulnerable domicile population in Serbia through the creation of durable housing solutions and economic sustainability measures" project valued at €1.020,052. This project will be implemented in the municipalities of Užice, Kruševac, Kula, Smederevo, Bačka Palanka, Temerin and Medvedja in partnership with the non-governmental organisation "Educational Centre" from Leskovac, Serbia.
1 OCTOBER 2009 - ASB FINALISES THE EU-FUNDED SOCIAL SERVICE PROJECT IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF MAJUR AND KUKURUZARI, THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA Under the CARDS 2004 programme, the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia has recently finalised the implementation of the EU-funded project to provide social services to the elderly through the home care services in the Municipalities of Majur and Kukuruzari in Sisačko-Moslavačka County in Croatia. This project was implemented in co-operation with the local non-governmental organisation ''Novi Svijet''. The value of this project was €281,090 of which €232,349 was provided by the European Commission (EC), €43,741 by ASB and €5,000 by the Municipality of Donji Kukuruzari.
27 SEPTEMBER 2009 - OFFICIAL OPENING OF APARTMENT BUILDING FOR SOCIAL HOUSING FOR 17 FAMILIES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF PARAĆIN, SERBIA An apartment building in Dankovo, the Municipality of Paraćin, constructed by the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund for South Eastern Europe (ASB SEE) with funds from the German Federal Foreign Office under the auspices of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, was officially opened on 27 September 2009 by the Municipality of Paraćin in Serbia.
16 SEPTEMBER 2009 - ASB FINALISES PROJECT TO DEVELOP RURAL TOURISM IN THE BORDER AREA OF KNIN AND BOSANSKO GRAHOVO WITH FUNDS FROM THE EC Under the CARDS 2004 programme, the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia has recently implemented a project to develop rural tourism in the border area of the town of Knin in Šibenik-Knin County, Croatia and the town of Bosansko Grahovo in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) with funds from the European Commission (EC). This project was implemented in co-operation with the civil society organisation (CSO) ''Hoću kući'' Knin and the municipality of Bosansko Grahovo. The value of this project was €159,000 of which €142,000 was provided by the EC and €17,000 by ASB.
13 JULY 2009 - ASB AND THE COMMISSARIAT FOR THE REFUGEES OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING A German non-governmental organisation Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) and the Commissariat for the Refugees of the Republic Serbia signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the municipalities of Gadžin Han, Surdulica, Medveđa, Kuršumlija and Blace and their respective Centres for Social Welfare in Serbia on 23 June 2009.
23 JUNE 2009 - GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTRY FUNDS EMERGENCY REPAIR OF 15 HOUSES FOR ROMA/ASHKALI/EGYPTIAN REFUGEE FAMILIES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF PRIZREN The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund for South Eastern Europe (ASB SEE) has recently received additional funds from the German Foreign Ministry, under the auspices of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, to carry out the emergency repair of 15 houses cat. 1-3 for Roma/Ashkali/Egyptian (RAE) refugee families in the Municipality of Prizren, Kosovo, along with related sustainability measures. The value of this project is €267,550.
16 JULY 2009 - ASB FINALISES A JOINT PROJECT WITH THE CANTON OF SARAJEVO AND THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ASB) has recently finalised the implementation of the project for the reconstruction of 33 houses for minority Bosniak returnees from the Canton of Sarajevo to the Municipality of Foča in the Republic of Srpska, the reconstruction of two health centres in Tjenište and Kozja Luka in the Municipality of Foča, the reconstruction of four bridges in the Municipality of Kalinovnik and the delivery of 29 grants for economic recovery and sustainability. This was a joint project in which funds were merged by the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of the Canton of Sarajevo, the Ministry of Housing of the Canton of Sarajevo and the Ministry of Health of the Canton of Sarajevo (€670.374,20), the German Foreign Ministry (€145,000) and ASB (€77,350), totalling €892.724,20.
8 JUNE 2009 - ASB SEE CONSTRUCTS AN APARTMENT BUILDING IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF KRUŠEVAC, SERBIA WITH FUNDS FROM THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund for South Eastern Europe (ASB SEE) has recently received funds from the German Foreign Ministry (GFM) under the auspices of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, to close down the collective centre "Velika Lomnica" in the Municipality of Kruševac and provide durable solution for eight refugee/IDP families and two socially-vulnerable families through the construction of an apartment building with 10 apartments in the Municipality of Kruševac, the Republic of Serbia. The total value of this project amounts to €208,350.

30 MARCH 2009 - ASB IMPLEMENTS A NEW EU-FUNDED PROJECT OF PROVIDING SUPPORT TO IDPs, REFUGEES AND VULNERABLE DOMICILE POPULATION IN SERBIA The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Serbia has recently received funds from the EU to implement the project "Support to internally displaced person (IDP), refugees and vulnerable domicile population in Serbia by providing durable housing solutions and economic sustainability measures" valued at €1.760,000. This project will be implemented in underdeveloped municipalities in South Serbia, Central Serbia and Vojvodina in partnership with the non-governmental organisation "Educational Centre" from Leskovac, Serbia.
23 MARCH 2009 - ASB SEE FINALISES THE EU-FUNDED PROJECT OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN WAR VICTIMS AND LANDMINE VICTIMS IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA Under the CARDS 2006 programme, the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund for South Eastern Europe (ASB SEE), has recently finalised the implementation of the "Socio-economic empowerment of particularly vulnerable groups such as female war victims and mine victims" Project in the Municipalities of Prijedor, Trebinje and the town of Banja Luka in the Republic of Srpska, the Municipalities of Goražde, Tuzla, Velika Kladuša in the BiH Federation and in the Sarajevo Canton, in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The total value of this project was €1,000.000 of which €750,000 was provided by the European Commission (EC), €100,000 by the Sarajevo Canton and €150,000 by ASB.

10 MARCH 2009 - GERMAN MILITARY ENVOY BURKHARD KÜHNAPFEL VISITS ASB MINE WORKSITE IN PODGRADINA, ZADAR COUNTY On Friday, 27 February 2009, Lt. Col. Burkhard Kühnapfel, Military Envoy of the Federal Republic of Germany, visited the ASB mine worksite in the settlement of Podgradina, the county of Zadar, accompanied by Mr. Wolfgang Raschka, Head of the Office of Arbeiter-Smariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia. This visit was organised in order to inspect the implementation of the mine-clearance activities within the ASB's 2008 Humanitarian Mine Clearance Project funded by the German Government.

30 JULY 2008 - ASB SIGNS A NEW MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE CROATIAN CENTRE FOR DEMINING AT VALUE OF €800,000 On 22 July 2008, the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia, represented by Mr. Wolfgang Raschka, Project Manager of ASB Croatia and the Croatian Centre for Demining (HCR), represented by Mr. Mirko Ivanušić, Deputy Director of HCR, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Sisak in the presence of Mr. Bernd Heinze, Deputy Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany. Based on this MoU, the Government of the FR of Germany commits to provide €800,000 for mine-clearance in Croatia in 2008.
22 JULY 2008 - MR. BURKHARD KÜHNAPFEL, GERMAN MILITARY ENVOY, VISITS ASB MINE SURVEY SITE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF STARI JANKOVCI On Thursday, 14 July 2008, Lt. Col. Burkhard Kühnapfel, Military Envoy of the Federal Republic of Germany, visited the ASB mine survey site in the municipality of Stari Jankovci to mark this year's ASB mine-clearance project funded by the German Foreign Ministry in the Republic of Croatia. Through this project, the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in Croatia carries out mine-clearance activities of 650,000 m2 of agricultural areas, yards and gardens in six counties in Croatia in co-operation with the Croatian Centre for Demining (HCR).
19 JUNE 2008 - ASB SETS UP MOBILE SOCIAL TEAM UNDER SOCIAL SERVICE PROJECT IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF MAJUR AND DONJI KUKURUZARI Under the project for the provision of social services within the CARDS 2004 programme, the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia and its project partner, the civil society organisation "Novi Svijet", have recently set up a mobile social team to provide home care services for the elderly in the municipalities of Majur and Donji Kukuruzari in Sisak-Moslavina County in Croatia. For this project, ASB employed 10 people including one nurse and nine care takers who carry out a variety of social services.
14 APRIL 2008 - ASB SEE SUCCESSFULLY FINALISES THE "SUPPORT TO THE RETURN PROCESS OF REFUGEES TO BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA AND THE INTEGRATION PROCESS INTO SERBIA" PROJECT With funds from the European Commission (EC), the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund for South Eastern Europe (ASB SEE) has recently finalised the implementation of the "Support to the return process of refugees to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the integration process into Serbia" Project which was implemented in BiH and Serbia in co-operation with local partners: the Serbian Democratic Forum, Serbia (SDF) and the Association for Displaced Persons and Refugees, BiH (ADPR). The total value of this project was €312,770.

The total value of this project amounts to €314,560.
15 FEBRUARY 2008 - ASB IMPLEMENTS INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS WITH SERDA IN SARAJEVO REGION The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ASB) has recently finalised an agreement for repairs of small-scale technical infrastructure projects with the Sarajevo Regional Economic Development Agency (SERDA). These projects included repairs of electric and water networks, fire stations, roads, sewage systems etc. in Sarajevo Economic Region valued at €383.000.
28 JANUARY 2008 - GERMAN GOVERNMENT FUNDS HUMANITARIAN AID IN KOSOVO AND BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA (BIH) The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund for South Eastern Europe (ASB SEE) is currently distributing humanitarian aid in the Municipalities of Foca and Gorazde, BiH and in the Municipality of Prizren in Kosovo with funds from the German Government under the auspices of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe.
17 JANUARY 2008- ASB RECONSTRUCTS TOURIST INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE GREATER PETRINJA REGION, IN THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA Under the CARDS 2003 programme, the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia has recently finalised the implementation of the "Tourism and civil society development of Sisak - Moslavina County" project in the town of Petrinja in co-operation with the Tourist Association of Petrinja and the town of Petrinja. The total value of this project was €245,594.

2 JULY 2007 - ASB SIGNS A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH CROMAC AT VALUE OF €764,000 On 22 June 2007, the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia, represented by Mr. Wolfgang Raschka, Head of ASB Office in Croatia and the Croatian Centre for Demining (CROMAC), represented by Mr. Oto Jungwirth, CROMAC Director, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Sisak. In accordance with this MoU, ASB will implement mine-clearance of approx. 637,000 m2 in six counties at value of €764,000.
29 APRIL 2007 - ASB SEE CELEBRATES ITS 15 YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN SOUTH EASTERN EUROPE The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund for South Eastern Europe (ASB SEE) held a reception on the occasion of celebrating its fifteen-year anniversary in South Eastern Europe as well as the end of the EU-funded CARDS 2003 programme in BiH. The reception took place on 23 April 2007 at the Sarajevo 'VF Golf' Club.
26 MARCH 2007 - ASB FINALISES TWO ECONOMIC PROJECTS IN THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA WITH FUNDS FROM THE BELGIUM GOVERNMENT In the Republic of Croatia, the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) has recently finalised two economic projects; the reconstruction of the railway bridge at the Danube River and the purchase of a new crane for the port of Vukovar with funds from the Belgium Government.
14 MARCH 2007 - ASB MINE-CLEARED AREA OF 615,000 m2 IN CROATIA WITH FUNDS FROM THE GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTRY The Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in the Republic of Croatia has recently completed mine-clearance of 615,000 m2 in the Municipalities of Pakrac, Sodolovci, Osijek/Antunovac, Petrinja, Sisak, Lipik, Sunja and Skradin with funds from the German Foreign Ministry under the auspices of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe. The total value of this project amounts to €797,211.
17 JANUARY 2007 - ASB CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE RETURN OF REFUGEES TO BOSNIA AND THE INTEGRATION PROCESS INTO SERBIA With funds from the European Commission (EC), the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) recently started the implementation of the "Support to the return process of refugees to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the integration process into Serbia" Project which will be implemented in BiH and Serbia in co-operation with local partners: the Serbian Democratic Forum, Serbia and the Association for Displaced Persons and Refugees, BiH. The total value of this project is estimated at €312,770.
16 JANUARY 2007 - ASB SUPPORTS MARGINALISED GROUPS IN BiH WITH A SPECIAL FOCUS ON ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT In Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the Office of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) has recently started the implementation of the "Socio-economic empowerment of particularly vulnerable groups such as female war victims and mine victims" Project in the Municipalities of Prijedor, Banja Luka, Trebinje in the Republic of Srpska, the Municipalities of Gorazde, Tuzla, Lukavac and Velika Kladusa in the BiH Federation and in the Sarajevo Canton. The total value of this project is €1,000.000 of which €750,000 is being provided by the EC, €100,000 by the Sarajevo Canton and €150,000 by ASB.
