Joint Workshop in the program “EU Assistance for Flood Relief in Serbia”

The implementing agencies involved in the flood relief program funded by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia (UNOPS, FAO, ASB, HELP and DRC and their partners), representatives of the Donor, FAAARO and relevant local self-government departments in Paracin participated in the Joint Lessons Learnt Workshop held in Paracin on 7 July 2015. Main goals of the workshop was to improve the relevant stakeholders’ response in natural disasters in the country and region, as well as to raise awareness of the necessity to reassess flood relief responses and suggest corrective measures in future program implementation.

EU relief program for assistance to the flooded areas in Serbia in the amount of EUR 30 million is funded by European Union from its IPA funds. The funds are allocated for the construction of new homes, the reconstruction of public institutions, private homes and roads and the revival of economy and agriculture in 24 municipalities seriously affected by the floods: Bajina Basta, Valjevo, Varvarin, Velika Plana, Jagodina, Kosjeric, Koceljeva, Kragujevac, Kraljevo, Krupanj, Lazarevac, Loznica, Ljubovija, Mali Zvornik, Obrenovac, Osecina, Paracin, Svilajnac, Smederevska Palanka, Trstenik, Ub, Cacak, Sabac i Sid. All field activities are implemented by United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the organisations HELP, ASB and Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in coordination with the Government Office of the Republic of Serbia for Reconstruction and Flood Relief.
